The free Rubber Soul music festival on Mathew Street is to return this year.

The festival takes place on August bank holiday weekend, from the 24-27.

Returning for its second year, it will take place across all four venues of the Rubber Soul Complex; including Erics, Sgt Peppers, Kaiserkellar and Rubber Soul.

The original Mathew Street Festival was cancelled back in 2013, but this is hoping to bring back memories of the bank holiday festival.

Rubber Soul manager Stephen Kelly, 24, spoke with Mersey Mash, and says the festival will once again be: “Something to remember.”

“With this festival we’ve been trying to bring back some nostalgia of the old Mathew Street festival, and as was seen last year it turned out fantastic,” he said.

“There is live music every day, with just about very genre covered, so there is definitely something for everyone.”

“The atmosphere is electric throughout the entire weekend, so I would encourage everyone to get down To Mathew Street and not miss out,” he added.

Daryl Moore, 27, from Toxteth, said he was at the festival last year and can’t wait to do it all over again.

“The music was just sensational last year, there were a number of live acts I seen over the course of the weekend that I wanted to see again, many of which are playing this year,” he said.

“The fact that it is free also so it means everyone can go and enjoy the great music.”
